Cracked Out Rice Krispies Treats

Its kinda cold here in LA (47 degrees, don’t laugh). In fact, this is the first time ever in this apartment that I have lived in for three years, that I turned the heat on. It was scary. The fire alarm went off a lot. I was expecting a lot of bad smells because the gas heater would have to burn through cat hair and dust that made it through the vent, but that didn’t happen. It was great. Now my apartment is super warm. So this whole cold thing makes it feel a bit more holiday like. I’ve watched Elf 5 times already this month. Such a good movie. I have my mini pink Christmas tree up with the ornaments secured to the tree (my cats are brats), and a couple of strings of lights up. I am looking forward to going to some Holiday parties, and seeing my family in cold ass Idaho. Mostly though, I am looking forward to going to parties where you have to bring food. Then you show up, and food destroy everyone. What does food destroy mean you ask? It means your food tastes better and looks better than what everyone else brought. You know it, and they all know it. The girl that brought the gross orange looking dip will stare you down because her casserole dish of nastiness is still in tact while your stuff is gone. This may seem childish and stupid, but whatever. Its my thing, and yes, I secretly judge you as a person for whatever food you bring to a party. So I encourage you all to go to parties with the intent to food destroy everyone. These Cracked Out Rice Krispies Treats are a pretty good start. The creative and funny name will give you extra points.

That looks so amazing! Adding pretzels totally won me over!! Totally making these for a snack this weekend… though I’m going to leave out the peanuts. I’m not really a nuts-in-desserts girl.

And it’s been 40 degrees here in Texas & I’ve been freezing too. So I’m right with you, girl!

Ok now I want to see a photo of your cats trying to wrestle with your mini pink Christmas tree. I am a food destroyer as well (can’t believe I just admitted that!) but hey, whatever… These treats are on my food destroying list now, thanks!

I’m glad there’s now a term (besides pwning noobs) to describe winning the Battle of Hors D’oeuvres that is the holiday season.

Love the “food destroy” concept. I definitely need to keep it in mind for the cookie exchange I’m going to next week! Also love Elf and wish that I had already watched it 5 times this month… it is finally on the agenda for this weekend – and maybe these rice krispie treats should be too!

ps* we tried to turn on our heater & totally set off the fire alarm. we got super scared that we were going to explode so we’ve just been using our space heater & snuggies to get through this frigid l.a. winter ;)

oh I’m so glad there’s a name to it. I’m totally a FOOD DESTROYER.
Cats are dicks.
Heaters are stinky at first. But so welcoming.
Elf is the best holiday movie ever.

THE END.

My cat climbed my tree last year and broke it, he had probably been eating too many sweets. I like this idea of being the food destroyer, it will give me something to strive for this year.

I cannot wait to try making these this weekend! The pretzel part sounds delicious!!!
And I understand what you mean about wanting your food to destroy- I want to win at everything I do too. I secretly race people walking down the street.

I am totally the food destroyer. In fact, people know it and expect me to food destroy them and don’t even try to compete. Truthfully, I’ll only judge you if you buy something instead of make something.
Or live in LA and complain about the cold. pah leeze!
luv from Canada ;)

Teri, you crack me up, you food destroyer!

OMG, I think that I have watched ELF more than 5 times within the last month too. Last night I had to promptly turn off the television and I found myself watching it again. I had work to do.

Happy Holidays.

yowza! It’s been a long time since I had a rice krispie treat. Your cracked out version sounds so much better than the sticky marshmallow kind!

Did you press the rice krispies in the photos into an actual pan? Dropping them on mounds wouldn’t make such nice slices like that and I really like the effect of the slices of rice krispie. Almost makes it seem like I’m eating cake!

These look so decadent! I am stuck between food-destroy mode and survival mode. I totally have the desire to destroy, but not sure I could pull it off with the buh-zillion other things I have going on right now. But these. . . . these could be ammo in my arsenal. They’re easy AND delicious – that seems to be a recipe for total annihilation. . . . Love it!

Love the “food destroyer” term! I totally play that game esp. during the holidays!
I have to make these crispies for holiday parties! Anything with white chocolate is my crack! :)
And cats-no offense, but I’m a dog lady myself. And you think 47 is cold? Come to Indiana darlin! :)

We don’t go to many holiday parties… Too many small children… But the one we do attend is my mother’s family gathering, and they are the sort to hump the leg of the person who brings the green beans swimming in mushroom soup. Not really any point to being a food destroyer there. I brought some chess I made last year and they all just wrinkled up their noses and walked away.

But. I am the food destroyer at church dinners.
